Anyway, I wanted to thank you for your work, and for the inspiration!

--Charles HangCharles Hanghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12625629750203836775noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5389144729834496735.post-5483534117834501772013-11-05T14:28:46.482-05:002013-11-05T14:28:46.482-05:00Thanks! You'll consistently hear multi-industrial management teams comparing their acquisition philosophy to DHR and AME, though few are as good. I also like to use FCF/Revenue as a metric for companies like this to see how good they are at turning a dollar of revs into fcf, as that is the fuel for their acquisitions. You'll see DHR, AME, and TDG all score extremely well relative to peers on this metric.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5389144729834496735.post-9882636826037238662013-10-26T03:52:48.593-04:002013-10-26T03:52:48.593-04:00This is a great idea. I really think someone should let Warren (or some other rich investors) know about the idea.
Thanks for the great post.
Best,
Furkan Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5389144729834496735.post-56444359841914712142013-10-25T10:29:08.967-04:002013-10-25T10:29:08.967-04:00Thanks for nice comment. And I agree, if you just read tons and tons of annual reports (especially going back in history), you will learn a lot.

You know how Google is scanning every single book on the planet? I think this is something that Warren Buffett should do. Or he should fund something called the "Warren Buffett Online Library for Financial Rationality" or something like that; every single published annual report from every single company in history should be scanned and be made available for free online for investors and students around the world to access at any time.

That would be something, and it probably wouldn't even cost that much (for a multi-billionaire to fund).

Thanks for reading.
kkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06299974418283948333noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5389144729834496735.post-51820630423402351392013-10-25T08:33:34.097-04:002013-10-25T08:33:34.097-04:00kk,
Thanks again for the wonderful blog. FWIW,...kk,

Thanks again for the wonderful blog. FWIW, I recently spent a month in the library reading old annual reports. I used the library's Thomson One subscription, but it is a little hit and miss. So, for Teledyne it went back to 1974, but only had the 10-k, no shareholder letter. However, there was a lot great shareholder letters that were available from companies like Blue Chip Stamps, Gillette, Washington Post, GEICO, etc.

The library charged me $200 for a month of access, but it was well worth it for me. I found reading old annual reports was far more valuable than any book I've read.

Best,
Tom LAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
